do you prefer "Fashion Victim" or "Ensembly Challenged"?
♡
Cher Horowitz is my idol and if you've seen Clueless, you'll know why.
Clueless is one of my favourite films. If not for the iconic 90s twist on a Jane Austin classic, then ultimately for Cher's wardrobe.
♡
I could write a 5,000 word essay on why I admire Cher and why I feel Clueless is SO important but I'll just stick to the clothes....
My favourite outfit from the film is the red tartan jacket and skirt and beret -
so when I found a replica jacket for £4 in a charity shop, I snapped it up straight away. When I got home, I spent the evening cutting out the shoulder pads so it didn't look too boxy or 80s
I wear the jacket with something plain. I feel a skirt to match like Cher's would make me look like I was trying TOO hard to be her (although who doesn't want to be her?). In the picture above I'm wearing a plain navy American Apparel jersey pocket skirt with a plain navy jumper and a white blouse underneath. The satchel you can just see is my trusty Cambridge Satchel which I've used for school/college for three years and would definitely recommend.
♡
When I'm out and about, I generally have the mindset "what would Cher Horowitz/Taylor Swift/Alexa Chung/Zooey Deschanel wear?" as these are my main fashion icons (other than my 23yo sister from whom I stea....borrow garments of nigh-on every day).
♡
In June, I went to Edinburgh with college and one of my closest friends Rhea. We both covet vintage clothes and general bargains so naturally, we headed straight to the vintage shops in Grassmarket. In Armstrong's Vintage I found a beautiful genuine wool kilt for £9. I had been looking for a kilt during the day - one can't leave Scotland without a kilt (said no one but me, ever). It fit perfectly and was v v v v Cher Horowitz. Unfortunately, it was summer, so the kilt's first outing was when I met Alexa Chung on Monday - she approved.

I'm so pleased that tartan is v on trend this winter because I am obviously such a fan. As Clueless has proved, tartan will probably always keep coming back so any purchases made can be kept FOREVER.....or maybe I just feel that kilt is my soul mate.
♡
I finish this post with one final word of advice - whenever a boy comes, you should always have something baking

Forever Chung
So on Monday I met Alexa Chung at her book signing in Manchester.
Alexa Chung.
Alexa.Chung.
♡
After a complete palaver on Sunday evening of sickening anxiety over what to wear I finally chose an outfit. What does one wear to meet Alexa Chung? What does one say in her presence?
I got the tram into town at 11 fully anticipating a large queue but Waterstones was utterly desolate. Thankfully, on the second floor where the signing took place there was a cafe where I sat and waited for two hours nursing vanilla latte after vanilla latte and positively quaking in my new blue monk shoes.
♡
The signing was at 1 and I had an English Literature lesson at 2.15. I knew that I would be undoubtedly late but I also knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
As the queue curled round the corner of the labyrinth of bookstands it was my turn. I thrust my iPhone into the hands of the sales assistant stood on photo duty and awkwardly stumbled over to the desk. It's silly to idolise one person so much but I was pretty much speechless. She looked so effortlessly cool and stylish. I want to be her.
She looked me up and down and said "ten out of ten" which sent me in a state of borderline hysteria embarrassingly squealing "THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT MEANS!!!"
she asked where my kilt was from to which I admitted it was a vintage treasure I purchased for a mere £9 in Edinburgh in July which lead us on to talking about how I was currently skipping college like a true rebel to meet her. She said, and I quote, "I love that shit!!"
I pretty much felt like Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the dance sequence of (500) Days Of Summer when I left that book shop.
In conclusion, Alexa Chung is officially my favourite person in the world ever and she's so lovely and nice and just gah. Iconic.
